Prim and Proper

True colors
Oh sweet Abigail, I can't believe you are almost 2! You are a spunky, sweet little girl and we love you so much. I can't picture our house without you! You know what you like and don't like! You are talking more each day, and you have found a new love for shoes! You love bath time, showers not so much! You are still struggling with separation anxiety.  You look forward to taking your brothers to the bus stop every morning, and you even line up with them! We can't wait to get hugs from you every day, and to see what your mood will be! We love you so much little miss!

Southern Manners...

Since I was raised in the south, I grew up knowing those manners. I have tried very hard to instill those manners in each of my kids. And I have had positive feed back for doing so. Well, this morning my baby girl showed her manners, and I was shocked! She is not yet 2 and as I was putting laundry in the washer (she was helping me of course!) Abbey burped, she looked up at me and said "excuse me," a few seconds later she started having a tickle in her throat and she cupped her mouth with her elbow and finished coughing. I then got a video of her saying excuse me, it is the cutest thing I've heard! I am proud to have lived in a place that yes mam, please and thank you's are of value; something I think is going on the way side. I'm just grateful my kids have manners!

Thank goodness for insurance...

Last Friday after I put Eric on the bus, I headed up stairs to talk to Andrew before he left for work. That was around 8:50, an few minutes later Andrew headed downstairs to leave. I heard him yelling for me, I came down stairs and saw Andrew walking through about 1/4 inch of water. The water was coming from our insta-hot water tap. Andrew shut the water off from under the sink. The water traveled from under the sink into the kitchen floor, bathroom, dining room, entry way and through some of our carpet. Thank goodness we were home, if it had be just an hour later we would not have been home and it would have been much worse. Andrew had a shop-vac from work, and so for the next 3 hours I was on my hands and knees with my face about an inch off the floor.

Our thoughts were if the hard wood floors look good after getting all the water up, we wouldn't need to do anything. Well, by the evening the boards were starting to pucker and the carpet was still damp. We called our insurance company Tuesday morning after getting the price of our deductible. Wednesday morning the floor company came out, and we just thought it was a simple, yeah your floors need to come up or a no they are fine. Oh were we in for it! Or this would be a long wait time once the estimate was made... nope. They said the floors needed to be removed, and fans would be brought in, THAT DAY! The damage was way worse that we expected it to be. The damage is thus... Hard wood kitchen floors,  pergo in the dining room, about 1 feet of laminate in the bathroom, the cabinet under the sink (which means the counter tops have to go in order to replace the cabinet.) Luckily they are able to save our carpet! So while we're at it, we are going to replace another corner cabinet, dishwasher (which was leaking) and our sink. Because I don't want the old insta-hot faucet taunting me everyday, because we are not replacing it. Insert extremely sad face -> HERE!!!!

So we are now sitting in a fan induced hot house, and the slight sound of industry fans will be here at least until Monday. Then picking out new flooring and counter tops, it's going to be about a month process. Thank God for insurance!!!

Tantrum...

Yesterday was a normal, walk to the boys to the bus and home again. Abbey wanted to go back outside, and when I said no, she started sliding backwards and ended up doing hand stands. And not just one hand stand but several; can we say she's following in her mommy's foot steps! Again I see a gymnast in our future!
